The spotlight was firmly on Bebé as United got their league campaign underway, but it was Villa who took the points and their Scotland U21 midfielder Barry Bannan who grabbed the headlines as the visitors avenged their penalty shoot-out defeat in last season’s Premier Reserve League national play-off with a comprehensive 4-1 win at Moss Lane.

Bannan struck twice in the first half, a superb early free-kick and audacious 43rd minute chip sandwiching an assist for defender Ciaran Clark as the Villans took a commanding lead into the interval. United improved after the break and substitute Nick Ajose gave the Reds a glimmer of hope with just over ten minutes remaining, but Bannan secured the victory and possession of the match ball from the penalty spot after a Villa counter-attack ended with Nathan Delfouneso tumbling under Oliver Gill’s challenge.

The ever boring Daily Mail claimed Bebe “flopped” but as I saw the game (something they clearly didn’t), I can easìly say Bebe did not “flop” but infact did quite well and is clearly a diamond in the rough who processes the skill and ability to be a real star and have a great United career, well done Bebe. The game was alright and we played well, but Villa played better and Bannan scored some good goals. Over-all it was a good game to watch but we will do better on monday in the Manchester Senior Cup.

  2. 7.4 million for that what a wste of our already tight resources! We have made a big mistake there as Bebe 5 weeks earlier was a free transfer. This stinks of money ‘mischief’ making in Portugal !

What is wrong with everyone? He is 20 years old and no one said he was going to be amazing? Tosic cost the same and there was no where near as much dribble written about him in the press? Give the boy a chance and leave him be; if he does well..great if not oh well. It is amazing how many journalist and others fools that clearly no nothing about football are jumping on the band wagon! He is young and fast and has great potential. I think his story and rise is quite remarkable and good luck to Bebe.

Edward wind your neck in son. You sound like one of those prats at the Daily Mail with an axe to grind with Fergie who are then having at pop at fergie by trying to tear apart a young kid who has only just realised his dream to be a professional footballer. You know nothing about Bebe just like the rest of us so any chance we can let him settle in and actually give the kid chance? Im pleased he dont speak English with some of complete and utter crap written about the poor bugger so far.

Edward, wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong. Bebe is worth penny and a true talent of the future. thank god we didn’t waste money on over-rated nobodies like Ozil or hasbins like Van Der Vaart, Bebe is so much better. Bebe have’s all the talent in the world to make it and proved it last night, a star of the future.

doggy I wonder if you are infact an idiot, oh no you answered that already. Bebe will not be like Manucho and hype? all the press has done before the other night was question the signing and make out like he is rubbish and will flop, as proved by the Daily Snail who has countlessly called him a flop. I was amazed some papers praised him for a good game, not shocked that crap Mail paper attacked Bebe again. Bebe is for real. Bebe, Chicharito, Kiko, Gibbo, Cleverley, Da Silva’s to name a few are the future.
