U18s: Wednesday 0 United 0 – Reds held scoreless in Sheffield

March 20th, 11am
Middlewood Road, Sheffield

Sheffield Wednesday Man Utd
Sheffield Wednesday U18s 0-0 Manchester United U18s

United’s U18s endured another frustrating morning as a stubborn and committed Sheffield Wednesday held the Reds to a 0-0 draw at Middlewood Road.

With Wednesday having only picked up two points at home all season, hopes were high for a productive visit to Yorkshire but those hopes were dashed by a surprisingly resolute Owls side, who proved difficult – and ultimately impossible – to break down. In a game that certainly won’t linger long in the memory, neither goalkeeper was overly exerted and goalmouth action was infrequent to say the least, with 0-0 looking a likely scoreline from a very early stage. The home side were delighted with the point when the final whistle went, but for United there was an undeniable sense of disappointment at a third successive draw in the Premier Academy League.

Marveld misery for United

Posted by nickogs20 on June 8, 2009

Despite a promising start that saw them in contention to qualify for the final of this year’s Marveld Tournament with one group game remaining, United’s U15s were forced to settle for a repeat of last year’s 10th place finish as their competition ended with disappointing defeats to Lokomotiv Moscow and PSV Eindhoven.

Marveld squad revealed

Posted by nickogs20 on June 14, 2008

Marveld TournamentThe tournament (held a fortnight ago) may be better best forgotten from a results point of view – the Reds finished 10th of 12 and won just one game – but the official Marveld website has revealed the U15 squad United sent over to Groenlo and you never know whether there might might be a name or two in there to remember:

1. Sam Johnstone
2. Michael Keane
3. Luke Giverin
4. Luke Hendrie
5. Tom Thorpe
6. Yaune Gnahore
7. Jackson Ramm
8. Larnell Cole
9. Will Keane
10. Ravel Morrison
11. Nigel Neita

12. Tom Lawrence
13. Elliot Bullock
14. Matty Boland
15. Tyler Blackett
16. Raheem Hanley
17. Rico Gomes

It’s worth noting that Michael Keane and Rico Gomes’ names were misspelt on the website so there may be further spelling errors in the names of less familiar players.
