United’s under-18 side continued their impressive and goal-laden start to 2009 with a resounding win over near-neighbours Bolton at Wanderers’ Lostock Farm academy base this morning. Despite dominating possession and practically camping in the home side’s half right from kick-off, the Reds only had Evandro Brandão’s fine early strike to show for their efforts and dominance at half-time, but Paul McGuinness’ charges rectified that in the second half, adding goals from Chris Curran, skipper Oliver Norwood and a quickfire brace from Josh King, the Norwegian’s first academy league goals for the club.

The Michelin Sports Ground in Stoke-on-Trent was the venue for a masterful display from Paul McGuinness’ U18 side this morning, the final scoreline of 4-0 barely reflecting the Reds’ superiority over an impressive ninety minutes. Three goals in a clinical five-minute period in the first-half from Nicky Ajose (2) and Chris Curran effectively killed off the game as a contest, Kiko Macheda adding a classy fourth after the break as United cruised to victory.
