Devlin makes Hartlepool loan switch

Following in the recent footsteps of Ritchie de Laet and Nick Ajose, Reds keeper Conor Devlin has joined the current loan exodus from Old Trafford after finalising a month-long temporary move to League One side Hartlepool United.
Pools boss Mick Wadsworth has signed the Northern Irish stopper as cover for another loanee, Blackburn Rovers’ Jake Kean, after the Monkey Hangers’ first-choice Scott Flinders joined his regular understudy Andy Rafferty on the injury list. The 19 year-old turned out for United’s reserves against Blackburn last night and will now go straight into the Hartlepool squad for the visit of Carlisle United this evening, having been assigned squad number 33.
Devlin will hope to force his way into the starting eleven during his short time at Victoria Park but even playing second fiddle to Kean should serve as valuable experience, with the demands of having to be ready to step in at a moment’s notice for highly competitive senior games a big step up for a keeper still relatively untested even at reserve level. The Belfast-born glovesman’s first taste of senior football will see him come up against familiar faces tonight, with United teammates James Chester and Oliver Norwood both currently on loan with Carlisle.
