MSC fixture changes – Stockport game scheduled, derby postponed

Posted by nickogs20 on September 22, 2009

United’s Manchester Senior Cup clash with Stockport County has been pencilled in for Monday November 16th, but this Thursday’s scheduled MSC tie with Manchester City has been postponed.

The game with Stockport was the last of United’s five group games to remain unscheduled, but the clubs have now agreed to a date, November 16th. The game, a home game for the Hatters, will be held at Ashton United’s Hurst Cross ground, with kick-off at 7pm. Full details, including entry prices, can be found here.

United will now have to put their heads together with cross-city rivals City to work out a new date for their MSC derby. The two sides were due to meet at Moss Lane this Thursday but, presumably due to the likelihood of many of the Reds’ reserve regulars being involved in the first team’s Carling Cup encounter with Wolves on Wednesday night, the game has now been postponed. We’ll bring news of all the details when the game has been rearranged.

Ole Solskjaer’s side kicked off the defence of the trophy they’ve won for the past two years with an emphatic 5-0 home win over Bury last month. In additions to the games mentioned above, the Reds face tricky away games against Oldham Athletic on October 10th and Bolton Wanderers on December 14th.

Is Sam Hewson injured nickogs20? Not in the league cup squad so i presume he’s either injured or not part of the plans. Its a shame Becuase i thought he would get a chance this season.
