Reds line up pre-season Canaries clash

As the reserves prepare for their season-closing Manchester Senior Cup final at the Reebok Stadium tomorrow night, the first part of their pre-season itinerary for 2009/10 has been revealed – a trip to face Norwich City.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will take a United XI to Carrow Road on Saturday July 25th (kick-off 3pm) for a friendly against the Canaries first team, sure to be an extremely stern test for the Norwegian’s charges regardless of the Norfolk club’s relegation from the Championship this season. With the first team away on tour in Asia at that time, Ole will almost certainly be deprived of some of those on the fringes of the first-team squad who he may otherwise have been able to call upon, and the squad that travels will likely be a very young one.
While Norwich will be preparing for a bid to regain their place in the second tier of English football, United’s second string will be warming up for the Lancashire Senior Cup Final. Just as happened last year, the final of the this season’s competition will be carried over until pre-season, with tomorrow night’s opponents Bolton Wanderers also lying in wait as the Reds seek to defend the trophy.
We’ll bring you all the news of further fixture announcements on United Youth as the pre-season schedules for both the reserves and academy continue to take shape.
