Date set for Chelsea Youth Cup clash

United’s FA Youth Cup Third Round tie with Chelsea has been scheduled for Thursday November 27th and will take place at Old Trafford.
While no official confirmation has been forthcoming from MUFC yet, Chelsea’s official site have confirmed the date and other details. Prices have been set at £5 for adults and £2 concessions for the 7pm kick-off, and hopefully we’ll get a sizeable turnout at OT to support Paul McGuinness’ terrifically talented U18s as they bid to overcome a tricky draw and progress in a competition that is always of huge importance to the club.
United were of course the winners of the first ever Youth Cup (indeed, of the first five to be held) and have won the tournament a record nine times, the last of those coming in 2003 when a team featuring the likes of Kieran Richardson, David Jones, Phil Bardsley and Chris Eagles beat Middlesbrough in the final.
United’s reserves were due to face their Middlesbrough counterparts in a home league game on the 27th, but it is anticipated that that game will now be rescheduled for a later date – we’ll have details of that as and when they are announced.
