U16 trio called up for Victory Shield decider

England U16s boss Kenny Swain has named United schoolboys Sam Johnstone, Tom Thorpe and Ra’vel Morrison in his squad for the November 28th clash with Scotland that will decide the winners of this season’s Victory Shield.
Goalkeeper Johnstone retains his place in the squad after being an unused substitute in England’s last match against Wales – he should now be given his opportunity to start. Centre-back Thorpe and winger Morrison, the latter having recently impressed in his first appearances for the Reds’ U18 side, return to the squad after missing the Wales game – both were part of the starting lineup in the young Lions’ opening victory over Northern Ireland, with Morrison getting himself on the scoresheet.
England go into the match, to be held at Lincoln City’s Sincil Bank, needing just a draw to extend their run of consecutive Victory Shield successes to eight, with the Scots needing to win to take the trophy.
