Celtic 0 United 0: Reserves held to a goalless draw in Glasgow
Posted by nickogs20 on November 6, 2008
United and Celtic’s reserve sides played out a goalless draw at the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie yesterday afternoon as the two clubs’ second strings staged a Battle of Britain warm-up ahead of the big Champions League clash at Parkhead.
Details… well, they’re decidedly sketchy at the minute. Match reports are available from Celtic’s official site and the Daily Record, but understandably they are slanted towards the home side.
You can get a decent sense of how the match went from the Celtic site’s report, and they also list the United lineup, although – unless we started with just ten men – they seem to have omitted someone, presumably whoever played at left-back. Good to see Danny Welbeck back from injury, just in time for United’s Carling Cup tie against QPR next week.
We’ll continue to update this if/when we get more details, and MUTV will be showing highlights at various time throughout Sunday and Monday.

Judging by the Celtic match report, we could have nicked this one but nevertheless, a good run-out for 18 of our guys. A little disappointed with no result but still a good run-out. Nice to see Welbeck back.
