EnglandWith vital European Championship qualifiers coming up at both U21 and U17 level, the England coaches at both levels have each named a pair of United youngsters in their squads.

In the U21s, Fraizer Campbell and Tom Heaton have been named in what coach Stuart Pearce has described as his “strongest possible squad” ahead of the two-legged final play-off with Wales for a place at the 2009 European U21 Championships in Sweden. The on-loan pair will be looking to pick up their fourth and third caps respectively in the away leg at Cardiff City’s Ninian Park a week tomorrow (home turf for the 22 year-old Heaton of course), with the home leg to come the following Tuesday at Villa Park. Full squad and match details can be found here.

Meanwhile, later this month the U17s will head to sunny Tenerife for their first qualifying tournament for the 2009 Euro U17 finals, to be held next May in Germany. John Peacock’s side will face the hosts Spain as well as Armenia and Estonia between October 22-27. Included in a squad featuring Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere, Spurs’ John Bostock and Charlton’s Jonjo Shelvey, all players with senior experience, are United schoolboy duo Ryan Tunnicliffe and Zeki Fryers. Tunnicliffe will be an expected starter in midfield after starring at the recent FA International Tournament, while Fryers will be pushing for a place after impressive recent form with United’s U16 side. Again, full details of the squad and the fixtures can be found here.
