United duo named in strong England U21 squad

Posted by nickogs20 on August 14, 2008

England Under-21 manager Stuart Pearce has named Fraizer Campbell and Tom Heaton in his 24-man squad for next Tuesday’s game against Slovenia.

Pearce has named a strong squad for the friendly, with several full internationals included – Micah Richards, Aaron Lennon and Theo Walcott amongst them. In contrast Heaton and Campbell are just getting their U21 careers up and running and boast just a solitary U21 cap each, but they will have the chance to double their tallies next week, with the game being of particular significance for Fraizer as it will be staged at Hull’s KC Stadium, where he of course spent a highly successful season on loan last year.

“Fraizer Campbell is a player that the Hull fans will know well and he was a massive part of Hull getting into the Premier League,” Pearce told thefa.com. “The fact he has been around the Manchester United squad in pre-season shows he is progressing and he showed an excellent attitude when he was involved in the Under-21s at the end of last season.”

The full squad for the Slovenia game and assorted other details can be found here.
