MUPC Day Two: U15’s through to the last eight

Posted by nickogs20 on August 5, 2008

United matched their day one performance with a win and a draw on day two to secure qualification for the quarter-finals of the Manchester United Premier Cup World Finals as runner-up in Group A.

In the early game the U15’s evoked the spirit of 1999, scoring two injury-time goals to turn what looked like being an unjust 1-0 defeat to Audax Italiano of Chile into a deserved 2-1 victory. Those late goals from Will Keane and Tom Thorpe put the Reds on the brink of the quarter-finals and left them needing just a draw in their final group game against Real Madrid to progress, which they duly obtained. The 0-0 draw against the Spaniards secured second place in the group behind PSG and knocked Real out.
