Welbeck, Eagles, Heaton travel with first team squad to Rome

With Darren Fletcher, Louis Saha and Nani unavailable through injury, Sir Alex Ferguson has included reserve leading lights Danny Welbeck and Chris Eagles in the 21-man travelling party for tomorrow’s Champions League Quarter Final 1st Leg with AS Roma at the Stadio Olimpico. Saha’s absence in particular leaves Welbeck as one of only three strikers in the squad, and this may see the 17 year old included on the 7-man bench to bolster United’s attacking options.
With Ben Foster not registered in this season’s CL squad Tom Heaton also makes the trip as third goalkeeper, while Mikael Silvestre’s two recent reserve outings appear to have sufficiently convinced Fergie he has fully recovered from the cruciate knee ligament injury that has kept him out since September, as he also makes the trip.
