Rodrigo and Cathcart start in Pretoria
Posted by nickogs20 on July 26, 2008
They only arrived in South Africa 48 hours ago but Rodrigo Possebon and Craig Cathcart will start for the first-team in ten minutes time as United take on Kaizer Chiefs in Pretoria, wearing numbers 34 and 35 respectively. Ulsterman Cathcart partners Nemanja Vidic at the heart of the defence, while Rodrigo lines up alongside Michael Carrick in the centre of midfield – a player he has been compared to by some. The third late call-up, Tom Cleverley, is on the bench and will likely see some time on the pitch as Sir Alex looks to shuffle his deck with tomorrow’s game in Nigeria also in mind.
News on how the young lads get on in South Africa after the game, and we’ll hopefully have team news from the reserves’ clash with Oxford United up in the next 45 minutes.

Rodrigo played the first 45, looked tidy, came into the game as it wore on but was replaced by Tom Cleverley at half-time. Cleverley was tidy too, always looking for possession, got himself on the scoresheet with the third goal, side-footing home from a Rooney knockdown. Cathcart played the full 90 and was the pick of the trio, looked very good and did everything you’d expect of him.
4-0 was the final score fwiw.

I thought Cathcart and Cleverly play a good football for this game, as Rodrigo I am not watch him at all as I am too late to see the game :(
A lot of youngster came on in this game such as, Rodrigo, Catchart, Cleverly, Simpson, Martin, Campbell, Gibson, Evans, hopefully they can go to the first team, as all of you can see as Man Utd fans, those who come from our academy show a lot loyalty to our club like: Giggs, Scholes, Neville, the future is bright for United… come on lads…

I hear Rooney got kicked all over the park and was not happy, but kept his temper.
